Dan here today. Beth and I are happy to announce a new addition to our family.
We thought long and hard about a name in the 5 minutes it took us to drive him home from the CSA and finally decided on Norbert. Norbert is a 16-pound Queensland blue squash. We could tell that he was a boy because he’s blue, and everyone knows that blue is for boys and pink is for girls. (I think I want a pink squash next).
So far, he’s been very well-behaved, and he’s been sleeping through the night ever since we brought him home. Mostly he just sits quietly in the corner, but I’ve been spending some tummy time with him the past couple of days, trying to teach him new tricks. He’s a bit of a slow learner, but we’ll get there. He also enjoys going for walks, and he’s very inquisitive. He’s going to be a real handful someday. I think our Roomba feels a little threatened by him.
Who’s a good little squash? Who’s a good little squash? You’re a good little squash!
Sadly, we’re going to have to eat Norbert at some point. We don’t want to, since he’s so darn cute, but that’s just the way the world works sometimes. (This is the second time I have talked about eating babies on the blog. Maybe I should see someone about that.) Anyway, since I’ve never actually seen such a squash before, I don’t have very many ideas of what to do with him. Does anyone have any delicious suggestions?
