Summer Happenings

It’s finally September! Yay!  This summer was pretty packed for us.  We did so much that I thought I should right a recap to help me remember it all.

The fun started with a trip to DC for Eat Write Retreat the week before Memorial Day.  We also managed to squeeze in a detour to Virginia to see my sister’s family, a hop up the coast to Cape Cod for some R&R, and a few days in Boston for a friend’s wedding before we finally headed back west.

After a few weeks at home, our next trip took us to a new part of Colorado (for us).  We went to Snowmass for a short weekend to check out the Culinary and Arts festival, where we saw Hosea Rosenberg of Top Chef fame

and Alex Seidel of Fruition fame.

In July, my Dad and stepmom came to visit and we walked all over Denver and Boulder.  I can’t find a single picture from their trip, so here’s a random one of Dan and me.

My dad had barely left when my mom and sisters came to town.  We all headed off to Breckenridge.

Keira was thoroughly unimpressed with the mountains, but she still managed to enjoy herself,

and love was in the air (maybe the water, too).

Then, in the middle of August, Colorado hosted the first annual Colorado Pro Cycling Challenge.  We decided to watch the final stage of the race.  IMG_20110828_121448

It was a really hot day but we had a lot of fun watching the peloton go by.  I got to see Levi Leipheimer win a Colorado bike race for the second time.  I also discovered that watching a race is much less stressful when your husband isn’t in it.  This was the most relaxing race I’ve ever been to!

My college friends Melissa and Jessie came to visit this weekend to wrap up the summer, and we ate our way across the front range.IMG_20110904_133029
It was such a fun summer.  I can’t wait to see what fall has in store for us!
