Shrimp and Beer

Dan here today.  Last week, Beth made fondue as part of a beer commercial, although this one was without the scantily clad women, schlubby guys watching football, or Clydesdales pulling carts that you see in more traditional beer commercials.  Before the fondue, however, we tried a different recipe using beer.  This one had more mixed results, possibly because I used ground allspice instead of whole allspice and also put in too much of it.  I couldn’t really taste the beer either.  It was easy to make, though, and it’s hard to go too far wrong when shrimp are involved.  The original recipe can be found here.

The sad thing is, even though the company paid us for the post , Beth decided that she liked the beer and has been buying more of it, so we’ll probably pay them in the long run.  Now that’s good marketing.
Shrimp and Beer
1 1/2 lbs shrimp
4 cloves garlic, peeled
1/2 tsp ground allspice (might be good to cut this down)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp pepper
1 bay leaf
2 sprigs fresh dill
6 sprigs fresh parsley
8 oz beer

1.  Put everything in a large pot or dutch oven.  Bring to a boil, reduce to a simmer, and cook until the shrimp are opaque.
2.  Eat the shrimp.
