The rest of the conference went really well, the highlight was that I was able to see my mom for dinner! We went to an Italian restaurant called Lidia's near the hotel in an area called The Strip District. It’s where Primanti Bros. is. We decided to eat as the Italians do, a salad, a primi and a secondi.
The meal started with a bread bowl

and a pesto bean dip and a cannellini bean dip. I tasted both. So good!

Unfortunately portion sizes in the U.S. are substantially bigger than the Italian ones!
For the salad course, we got the Roasted Beet and Apple Salad with
Frisee and Fresh Goat Cheese.

Too much Frisee. The goat cheese and beets were heavenly!

The primi was Spaghetti "Trapanese" with Almond Pesto, Fried Calamari and Shrimps.

Wow. I barely ate half of this. It was pretty delicious though!

The secondi went mostly untouched. We ordered the Grilled Salmon Fillet with Gold Potatoes, String Beans Dijon Mustard Sauce.

I had a few bites and had to call it a night. Far too much food for one belly!
It was so nice to get to see my mom for a nice dinner in the middle of work :)
Has anyone made almond pesto? Do you know what’s in it?
