What did I do to my leg?  My right thigh is still a little tight.  I’ve decided to take some time off, but it’s hard to see my step and calorie burned target escaping me.  I know that I need to rest it and let it heal.  At least Dan and I had a plan to get in a few not-to-strenuous steps in later in the day.

I tried my new bagel thins for breakfast.  Oh my gosh!  Rebecca, you must have gotten a bad batch, or you are used to much awesomer bagels than I am!  I thought these were fantastic and much more flavorful than the last set of bagels I had (Thomas’ or lenders or something).  I made a fried egg and sprinkled some mozzarella.  This was the perfect breakfast!  The bagel had all the flavor of a regular (good) bagel.

I paired the breakfast with a tangerine.  Lunch was leftover cashew chili.  Still tasty the next day.

This filled me up immediately but I was starving at about 5pm. But, Dan and I had dinner plans that I needed to save room for!   We’ve been hearing great things about this restaurant called Fruition that is in our neighborhood.  We were excited to try this place, especially since it is walking distance from our house!  Unfortunately it is raining here in Denver.  Bummer!

As always we planned ahead and selected the dishes that we would share.  Dan chose the pork shoulder.

Salmon Creek Farms Confit Pork Shoulder
Sweet Potato Polenta, Maple Braised Belgium Endive, Poached Pear & Candied Walnut Salad
I chose the duck breast.
Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast
Carnaroli Risotto, Grilled Arugula & Smoked Duck Prosciutto, Red Onion Marmalade
Both dishes were great, I preferred the duck breast.  Dan loves eating with me because he gets 1.5 meals.  I ate about half of my duck and risotto and Dan gladly finished both meals.  While I was filling up, I still had room for dessert!  We settled on the flourless chocolate cake.
Flourless Valrhona Chocolate Cake Caramel Mousse, Salted Peanut Butter Caramel, Peanut Brittle
Wow this was rich!  The salted peanut butter caramel was heavy on the caramel with the right amount of peanut butter and salt.  Fruition is a must try when in Denver, it’s a restaurant with local ties and a seasonal menu.  The ambiance was cozy and intimate.  There was soft music playing in the background and so many waiters running around making sure we have enough water and bread (no bread basket, single servings of bread upon request).

After dinner we walked home and that aided with digestion, it would have been perfect if it weren’t raining!

When do you like to eat dinner?  I am an early dinner eater (5:30 or 6:00).
