Toasty Goodness

And the exhaustion continued.  I woke up completely exhausted Friday morning.  A friend and I had plans to go to breakfast and I’ll admit that is the only reason I got out of my pajamas before noon!  We were choosing between Toast and Snooze and since neither of us had been to toast, we decided to try out the toasty goodness (that’s their website address) :)

I looked at the menu and I was hoping for something savory, although the pancakes were calling out to me.  Andrea in her wisdom decided that it would be a good idea for us to split one pancake and get our own entree’s.  I had NO idea that the pancake would be twice the size of my head!

My friend ordered the Santa Fe French Toast

Thick cut toast stuffed with egg, chorizo, green chilies, mixed cheese, topped with queso anejo, pico de gallo, avocado sauce, and our smoked chili sour cream.

She loved this, I’m not into these flavors for breakfast, but she gave it two thumbs up. (I also think I should note that she didn’t finish her plate)

I ordered the Egg’s Benedict.

Toasted English muffin topped with poached eggs, grilled prosciutto ham, and traditional hollandaise sauce. Served with potatoes.

I know, this has to be one of the more calorie dense options, but ever since I had some hollandaise at the seasoned chef in December I wanted it.   I made a pact with myself that I wouldn’t eat the whole thing.
I should have taken a picture of the remaining plate.  This was a disappointing meal.  The hollandaise sauce was not sauce, it was just caked on top of the egg.  There was too much ham and the potatoes were flavorless.  So, all in all, I ate three (four?) potato pieces. I ate both eggs and probably half or a quarter of the ham and half of the english muffin.

All in all, I was disappointed.   But, of course, there is still the pancake.  I was saving the best for last.  We ordered the Cheesecake pancake.

Graham cracker crusted flapjacks topped with warm cream cheese sauce, fresh whipped cream, and your choice of strawberries or blueberries.
This was delicious.  We chose strawberries for the topping and it was amazing.  I am proud to say that we didn’t finish this either.  But not for a lack of want.  We just ran out of room.
We rolled home  and I spent the rest of the day thinking about taking a nap and not taking it.  I did take a trip to Target.  I survived the candy aisle! Go me!  I did not survive the chip aisle.  I bought baked cheetos.  crap.  I had too many.

So, I had a smaller portion of dinner.  Dan made us spaghetti with shrimp and white wine.  Yum!  It wasn’t very photogenic though.

Then Dan left for a bachelor party and I settled in to watch the Opening Ceremonies.  Yay Olympics! They featured Tanith Belbin and Ben Agosto (U.S. Ice dancers) a few times.

A little over four years ago I worked very hard with my boss to make sure Tanith’s citizenship went through in time so that she could attend the Olympics and they won a silver medal.   All my male coworkers were jealous that I got to meet her.  Here’s hoping for Gold!
