Originally this recipe called for fennel and lemon and a whole bunch of other ingredients, but for some reason, I just can’t do fennel. Maybe my tastes will change. So, instead of eating all the pieces Dan made for dinner, I just ate my favorite parts. The steak and the cheese.
I also had some mushroom casserole to go with it. (I did keep some of the fennel leaves, although they didn’t taste like much…)
Steak with Mozzarella
Adapted from Real Simple
Ingredients:
- 1.5 lbs tri-tip or sirloin steak, cut into 4 pieces
- salt and pepper
- 8 oz. Fresh mozzarella
Instructions:
Season the steak with salt and pepper and place on a grill heated to medium-high. Grill about 4-5 minutes or until desired doneness. Slice mozzarella and serve with steak.

Looks good. Fennel is an aquired taste I think.
Sausage may keep me from becoming a vegetarian :)
Fennel is a licorice taste, so if you're one of those people who gets grossed out by licorice you won't like it. However, fennel's incredible for the digestion. If you ever have a bad taste in your mouth and chew on it it will help!
