Fiber and a giveaway!

MyBlogSpark recently gave me another opportunity to try a product and give a prize pack to you!  The package included an insulated lunch bag, travel coffee mug, calendar and sample pack of brown sugar cinnamon Fiber One Toaster Pastries.  And well, you know how I feel about getting my fiber in each day!

Growing up Pop-Tarts never entered my house.  I don’t know if I even had any until I started babysitting for one of my neighbors.  Her parents wouldn’t give out Halloween candy but they always had strawberry pop-tarts for afterschool snack.

I don’t know if I had any again until college when I (brilliantly) decided that pop tarts were the perfect vending machine snack.  They took awhile to eat and would satisfy any hunger.  And yes, that was before I realized that eating 400 empty calories as a snack was a bad idea.  There has always been something forbidden about Pop-tarts and so when I was presented with this opportunity for Fiber One Toaster Pastries, I couldn’t resist!

I saved them for today since I was home and could toast them.  Of course my plan was to eat one of them and let Dan have the other.  Let’s just say that I’m glad they only gave me two.  I ate the whole box and would have if there were more to eat!

These pastries are definitely different than Pop-tarts.  They are 20 calories less and have whole wheat flour.  I could taste the difference, these had a lot more umph to them.  And 10 grams of fiber (5 each).  Very tasty.  (of course it still annoys me when companies package items together but claim their calories separately.)

Although they do still have corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup.
