Food, personal responsibility, but don't forget about the giveaway!

Back yet?  Sweet.  Back to the regularly scheduled events.  There has been a lot of talk about prevention and responsibility and the governments role.  Sen. Harkin (D-IA) has been a leading advocate against childhood obesity and he was quoted saying “I just want a state that gives you enough information and sets up a structure where you can choose to be healthy.”  I feel as though that sums up the debate the best I've heard it.  I've heard so many people saying "put down that donut/ciggarette/bottle" and leaving it at that.  But it doesn't stop at that.  There are activities that the government can pursue to help the public choose healthy options.  Like in New York, I saw that starbucks was advertising the calorie content of each drink. (bad picture, I took it with my cell phone, but look the calories! Right there!)

Just some food for thought, what do you think about the government's role?
Onto today's food, once again I had a liquid breakfast of Mix 1, water, coffee and a V8.
 
I have a love hate relationship with V8, if I don't think about it I can totally drink it, but If I think about it, ewwww.  I also had some grapes and some salt and pepper chicken.  Yum....
Hubby and I were supposed to go to Boulder for a race so I packed a very filling treat for after lunch.  More Oikos Greek yogurt.  This is left over from the coupons that Stonyfield Farms sent me a few weeks back.  I totally prefer the plain to the honey.  
 
  
I brought the Super Charge Me Cookies with me this weekend but didn't eat them and they ended up breaking into small pieces.  What better way to use these crumbly bits than to put them into a yogurt-blueberry combination.  This was a total winner!  Although I won't break up cookies just for this.  I love those cookies too much.
Unfortunately, threatening thunderstorms changed our plans and I walked home.  It was moderately sunny but drizzling the whole way.  I did get to talk to my sister and mom for a long time, they are visiting this weekend and apparently my niece/nephew is very acrobatic!  Can't wait to meet him/her!

Dinner was Naked Chef Salmon and asparagus.  I couldn't get a good picture because there was not enough light in the apartment and apparently I couldn't be bothered to go outside.  It was so cold here tonight that I didn't even think about sitting on the balcony.  Booo.

Adaptation on Naked Chef Salmon
  • Salmon
  • Lemon
  • Olive Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
Squeeze lemon over the salmon so that you get most of the salmon covered with the juice, drizzle olive oil overtop. Sprinkle Salt and Pepper.  Bake for 10 minutes at 475 degrees.
